YORK, YORK COUNTY— Harley-Davidson York Vehicle Operations announced today that it will once again host its annual factory Open House event in 2011. The three-day event is scheduled to be held Thursday through Saturday, September 29 through October 1, 2011.
The event, which has been held annually for 25 years, took a brief hiatus in 2010 due to the major campus restructure currently taking place at the York factory. Through this transformation of production operations, Harley- Davidson is implementing a best-in-class, team-based, lean operating structure built on a foundation of continuous improvement and standardized processes.
While restructuring work will continue at the site into 2012, the Company expects to have all areas of the operation combined into a single building in time for the event. “The last year and a half has been a very transitional period for our factory, and this fall we will be ready to open our doors again as a way of saying ‘thank you’ to our neighbors, our customers and the greater York community for their ongoing support,” said General Manager Ed Magee. “We’re excited to once again sponsor Bike Night in Downtown York and look forward to celebrating the spirit of motorcycling right here Harley-Davidson style.”
