Meet the staff of American Iron Magazine, Motorcycle Bagger and RoadBike in Daytona. We’d like to welcome you to the Harley-Davidson Ride In show on Beach St. Wednesday, March 13. The big news this year is all makes and models of classic or custom motorcycle are welcome. Harley or other brands. In addition to custom motorcycles, we expect a great turn out of classic motorcycles, racers, choppers, bobbers, sidecars and trikes.

Our staff and photographers will be there to capture the action and to pick one or more custom motorcycle to photograph and feature in our pages. Now that’s news!

American Iron News: Big Dog Closing Rumors

The blogs and forums are buzzing today with the topic of Big Dog Closing. According to the Wichita Eagle, “The company cut 10 production workers and now has 22 employees, company president Mike Simmons said today. He said the company hasn’t made any motorcycles since last year and is now filling orders for parts and other supplies.”

Blogs and Big Dog rider forums are also getting heavy traffic on the subject. No news on their website or facebook pages at the time of this post. Most blogs are posting that the future will be a form of parts making for existing models for now.More details to follow.Read more:

American Iron Industry Leader News

The annual V-Twin Motorcycle Expo, recently held in Cincinnati, OH, is the largest Harley-Davidson related motorcycle dealer trade show of the year.The “Industry Leader of the Year” award is given to the person at the company that shows an unequaled vision, strategy and a dynamic business sense during the pastyear. Orange County executive, Mark Finnie, President of Performance Machine,was recently named the “2011 Industry Leader of the Year” during the Excellence inMotorcycling Awards ceremony held at the V-Twin Expo. Finnie will tell you it is a team effort that wins awards and gives credit to his employees.
Finnie has a degree in engineering and was hired to lead Performance Machine nearly three years ago. Finnie accepted the PM presidency during an economic downturn, which may have intimidated some, but not Mark…he was up for the challenge. Mark set his sights on new business development and successfully launched the first forged wheel program for the trike (3-wheeled motorcycle) market and is currently ready to launch a new forged wheel program for the off-road truck and Jeep markets. This will be the first venture for Performance Machine outside the motorcycle market. Finnie stated, “Diversifying our interests ensures that we can continue to grow while the economy takes its toll on the motorcycle market as well as other markets”.

Dynojet brings you the quickest and most powerful flash tuner on the market. The display’s interface cable plugs directly to the bike’s diagnostic connector and does not require the use of a computer. I repeat computers are no longer required.
