Pentax Optio W90 Camera Review

Wherever I go, I always try to bring A camera, and I don’t mean the one in my phone. This can be challenging while riding a bike due to the fact that the equipment needs to be limited in size and is almost guaranteed to be exposed to the elements — and my appetite for destruction. So when I came across the Pentax Optio W90, I was excited.

Don’t let this camera’s small size fool you. It was designed with adventure in mind. In other words, it’s dustproof, waterproof down to 20′, shock resistant from a drop of up to 4′, and cold proof down to 14 degrees F. To add to those specs, the camera has a 12 MP sensor and a 5X optical zoom lens that covers focal lengths of 5mm-25mm. A 2.7″ LCD on the back of the camera allows for easy image composing and reviewing. There are eight shooting modes to choose from and 12 digital
filters to add visual effects. Operation of the camera is simple and quick; it takes just over a second to turn on. The camera will run continuously for about two hours so the included charger needs to come along on road trips. The price of this camera is under $300, but as with most electronics, if you shop around you can find it for closer to $200.

This is Pentax’s 11th generation waterproof camera, and it not only looks the part, it also delivers on all levels. To date, the camera you see here has logged more miles on a motorcycle than some riders I know with no problems to speak of. The fact that it has survived my infamous Hulk smashing rampages says a lot about it, too. It is far from a professional digital SLR, but I am pleasantly surprised with the capabilities and durability of this camera, especially since it is a relatively inexpensive point and shoot. AIM

Jesse James Loses Advertiser Support in Garage Magazine

Jesse James and Trump on The Apprentice

A magazine owned by Jesse James is being punished by an advertiser who’s upset at Jesse’s infidelity — and claims he doesn’t want his product to be affiliated with “someone like him.”

Sources say a man named D.A. Sebasstian was in negotiations to run an ad for his movie, “Rat Rod Rockers!” in Jesse’s Garage Magazine earlier this year — but pulled the plug right when he first learned that Jesse had cheated on Sandra Bullock … because D.A. didn’t feel that it was in his best interest to support a person like Jesse.

Sebasstian, a married father of two, was quoted as saying, “Think of all those kids who were fans of his show, ‘Monster Garage.’ What do you tell them now — when they had looked up to this guy as a seriously cool role model?”

A source also reported that Jesse put the building that houses Garage Magazine up for sale last week. Coincidence?

Allegedly Donald Trump was heard saying, “Well, it sounds to me like the advertiser said ‘You’re Fired!’ to Jesse.”  Trump then spent the next ten minutes talking about how great his TV show was.  OK, we get it, enough already Donald.

Motorcycle News OCC Fallout Reaches New Depths

Paul Teutul Sr

The oldest son from “American Chopper” has escalated the war against his father by opening up a rival motorcycle business — and he’s making the whole thing incredibly personal.

Sources say that Paul Teutul Jr. is starting a competing shop to go head-to-head with his dad’s Orange County Choppers shop.

But here’s the catch — Junior has recruited a bunch of disgruntled employees who left his dad’s place … including his brother Mikey Teutul and friends Vinnie DiMartino, Robert “Nub” Collard and Joe Puliafico

Paul Teutul Sr., seen here in this photo, was last heard muttering “Boot up their ass, boot up their ass…….”

New LED’s for Street & Road Glides

Custom Dynamics announces its new complete plug and play DOT Approved LED Turn Signal Conversion kit for the 2010 Harley Davidson Street Glides and Road Glides. Many of the new 2010 Harley Davidson models including the popular Road Glides and Street Glides do not have the standard squareback center taillight that customers are familiar with. With just two bullet turn signals acting as running, brake, and turn, customers are asking for more rear end visibility.  The Custom Dynamics LED conversion kit includes four high power Genesis 48 LED clusters for maximum
visibility and a plug and play no load, no heat Signal Stabilizer.

The kit is 100% plug and play and can be installed in minutes and in most cases without even removing the seat. You can select Amber or White LEDs for the front turn signals while Red are provided for the rear. The LEDs have a lifetime warranty against LED failure and the Signal Stabilizer comes with a 5 year warranty.  For more information, please contact Custom Dynamics at 1-800-382-1388 or www.customdynamics.com

Sexy Harley Girls & David Uhl’s Classic Motorcycle Pin Up Art

One of our favorite contemporary artists is David Uhl. A motorcycle rider himself, he is among a small handful of artists actually licensed by the Harley-Davidson Motor Company. And where does he find all these beautiful women and stunning classic Harley motorcycles that he uses in his work?

Not all of David’s art pieces feature beautiful women, some shine the spotlight on beautiful machines, like this 1936 Harley EL Knucklehead. This machine is considered the first “modern” Harley that most current models are based on. The 1936 EL was Harley’s first production OHV (Overhead Valve) engine.

And some of  David’s beautiful women are painted without a motorcycle in sight. Here’s a depiction of one very beautiful and sexy woman being painted on the body of a World War II airplane.

David Uhl was born in Toledo, Ohio on September 20, 1961. Early on David began creating amazing drawings and, in high school he decided to pursue a career in art. He applied for, and won, the only full-ride scholarship to the Colorado Institute of Art offered to a high school senior in the U.S. He was dissatisfied with the design programs the school offered, yet he excelled at the life drawing and illustration classes. Leaving school after one year, he focused his talents on commercial illustration, eventually forming David Uhl Illustration, an award-winning firm servicing many prominent clients such as FedEx, IBM, Coca-Cola and Time magazine.

David bought a motorcycle in 1988 and riding to Sturgis South Dakota, David saw first hand the culture of cycling enthusiasts. He entered the world of Harley-Davidson apparel (t-shirt designs) with great success. Yet, after a time, David felt there was something missing, artistically.

Besides being a world class artist, David is a great guy and avid motorcycle enthusiast. For more information on David or to see more of his amazing work, check out his web site.
