Motorcycle Cannonball Run II Update – Pre 1930 Motorcycles Across The USA

Lonnie Isam, Jr., owner of Jurassic Racing in Sturgis, South Dakota, and promoter of the Motorcycle Cannonball Run II announced today that the historic transcontinental event scheduled for 17 days in September has its roster full and the route is set. Though held on U.S soil, the 2012 iteration is for all intents and purposes, a worldwide event.

HARLEY NEWS: Motorcycle Ride To Work Day Is June 18

Motorcycle and scooter riders’ 21st annual commuting day is this coming Monday, June 18th. Participation in the yearly demonstration is estimated to triple the number of riders on the road. Motorcycle and scooter groups and organizations actively encourage riders to commute by cycle on this day. On Ride to Work Day, motorcycle and scooter commuters seek improved employer recognition and support for this form of transportation and increased public and government awareness of the positive value of riding.

Congress Seeks To Halt Federal Funding Of Motorcycle-Only Checkpoints

U.S. Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) and Tom Petri ((R-Wis.), together with 29 additional members of Congress, have sent a letter to the leadership of the House-Senate Surface Transportation Reauthorization Conference Committee requesting the inclusion of language in the conference report that would prohibit the Secretary of Transportation from providing grants or any funds to states or local governments to be used for any program to create motorcycle-only checkpoints.

Sturgis Hall of Fame to Expand Motorcycle Museum Facilities

The Sturgis Motorcycle Museum & Hall of Fame has signed a purchase agreement to buy land directly to the East of the current museum location. The land sale is expected to be complete in early June.
