Default Pogo Seats Rule

I have been a long time fan of the old style pogo seat and much prefer it to the more modern soldi mount seat. I am always so surprised when people see a pogo seat and tell me how uncomfortable it looks.

I reply that I much prefer the pogo over a solid mount seat for around town and long distance riding as they are much more comfortable - especially considering how little suspension the older bikes (hardtails?) had to offer.

It seems that with this type of seat, you would feel somewhat disconnected from your bike when riding in the twisties, but I'm only guessing cause I've not tried this set up, other than a tractor.

Never actually rode on one, but have sat on a few and they feel pretty comfortable. And I was told they keep the weight of the bike down because no rear shocks or pivoting mounting mechanisms.

I think they look cool!

My '69 has a solo seat on a pogo stick and I love it. I too have questioned why H-D doesn't still use the pogo stick. I think it's far more comfortable than the seat on my '08.

I've ridden my '69 to the local dealer and people who have not been around the older iron will usually ask about it - "what is it" or "how does it work" or "Is it comfortable" are the phrases I normally hear.

Harley does still use the pogo seat, or rather a variation of it.
Look at a police bike. Solo seat suspended by an air shock.

You're right dls8 - but it gives a significantly different ride.
I've ridden one of the newer Police Electra Glides and it's far stiffer.

The air shock is completely adjustable. Pillow soft or rock hard, how do you want it?
