Default Crazy Idea?

I am thinking of taking a 77 year old Harley flathead that has not been run in at least a decade, sorting it out in less than a week and racing it at the Maxton Mile LSR (Land Speed Races) in October.

Details and a photo of the bike in the Events section here.

Am I nuts?

Anyone else have something old and funky to join us with?

Yes, you are nuts. Welcome to the nut-house.

I'd love to read about something like this in the magazine - more interesting than how some bonehead spent $75,000 building a bike he rides 500 miles a year on.

Do it!

I don't think she'll go for that and my bike is a 2006 so, I guess, no.
I'd love to visit the site, but I'm not sure I'll be able to since I'm heading out that way in a couple of weeks.

Buzz there is an old Indian that runs at Maxton, a lot. It is really cool.
There are flatheads, Ironheads that run all the time also.
Nice thing about running the old bikes it that they are not so fast that the average guy would be scared to death.

Are you going after a record or just running for fun?

Sorry to have to correct you, but this is a Harley - I believe a 1950s era KR flathead.
