To this day, I regret selling my 1980 wide glide. I had that baby dialed in so that it would start on the second kick almost every time ... occassionally a third kick was necessary in colder weather. After several rebuilds, (The last being a 103" S&S kit ...Which was huge in the mid 80's), and 250,000+ miles I traded it in for a 1995 Softail Custom.
The softail never really worked for me and I now am back to a 2003 Dyna Wide Glide. Even with a more powrful 103 Twin cam and all, it will never have the appeal of that old kick start shovelhead.
If I ever saw my old bike for sale again, I'd buy it back in a heartbeat.

Default good mix

Thanks for asking, dual carb. I feel like AIM has a good mix of new and old. Also a good mix if big twin and sporty. I like 'em all. I have shovel, ironhead, and twin cam.

And yes, those kickstart bikes are cool. You don't see that many around anymore.

Photos please. I often see servi sheet metal for sale at AMCA meets. And Jim Babchak, who writes the classic stories in American Iron, usually has at least one servi on the road and at least one more in parts for sale. Gotta love those old trikes.

Back in 76 I had a Thumper & it was necessary to line up the cylinder through the sight window in order to kick start it. Not too easy on a dark night.

Sounds like my dirt toy, a 1979 XT500.

Did you post some pics? I've got a 69, knocked out to 88" Just waiting on the tins. Let's see the ride.
