Kicking through, learning by feel and sound whether she needs another shot of fuel, or whether it's time to shut off fuel, open the throttle and kick it through to clear her lungs out. You get used to the ritual for your bike. It builds a bond between man and machine feeling the pistons come up on compression, and you build further as you do top end rebuilds- then those parts you carefully assembled with your two hands are carrying you down the road. Mine starts second or third kick cold. When I ride the old shovel to the dealership it gets noticed because some of the RUB's have never seen one before. |
