Default Heated Grips or Heated Gloves

Pros and cons of each please. I ride year round, but last winter my hands began to get intolerably cold. I guess that comes with being 50. Nonetheless, I'd like to beat the cold this year, and would gladly accept your thoughts.

Rick

Default use both heated gloves and grips

this way you can achieve maximum cooking time and efficency, no raw spots.

I moisturize with bbq sauce before putting my heated rig on and when i get to my destination - yum yum - i am all done - perfect!

wanker - who admittedly is feelng a little silly

Hey Rick
I skip the BBQ sauce, but do run heated grips. I'm in Canada and will ride for at least another month when mornings can be at the freezing mark but the ride home a dream. I bought the cheaper "Poly Grips" brand for snow mobiles. They are easy to install. I find they run a little too hot after awhile so I have to reach down and toggle em off. Even after doing that they are nice and warm for another ten minutes or so and then I flick them back on. A little nuisance, but I saved three hundred on the Harley brand with the rolling thermostat on the grip. I'll keep toggling. Actualy Poly now has one with a low and high setting you might want to try those. Never tried the gloves.

Hey Rick, and 03, I am waiting for it to get cold enuff to use my brand new gerbing g3 gloves. We LOVE the vests. I thot we'd get to use 'em this past weekend, but still not cold enuff.

The heated grips on the snow blower sure are nice!

Grips keep the palms warm when you have both hands on them!! Gloves keep the whole hand warm no matter where they are.

I went though the same thing you are and bought the gloves and love them!! They plug right into the heated long sleeve jacket I wear under my coat. Along with the thermostat (adjustable) you set it and forget it.

Riding in cold temps is not an issue at all.

Rick

I have an 03 FLHTCUI and I added the heated hand grips as all I wanted to do was take the chill off the cold hand grips. set at 2 or 3 on the setting, very comfortable unless it warms up then off they go.

Both grips and gloves are good. The positive side about the heated grips is you never forget them in the garage and need them when on the road.

The gloves, on the other hand (get it Wanker?) will keep you warmer but you need to remember to carry them and have proper wiring to make them work.

I'm leaning towards the heated grips right now. I agree with what Buzz says about having to remember to bring the gloves, etc. These days it seems like I have to take notes to remember anything for more than 15 minutes...

Thanks for all the replies!

Rick
