Default Bagger?

O.K. I’M coming up on my third riding season with my 2006 Softail and I have been thinking about a upgrading to a Bagger. I pretty much had my mind made up, going for the Ultra Glide, but after reading this months article on Harley’s Band-Aid fix for the fifth gear noise I have serious doubt. Should I go for it or should I wait until Harley decides to correct the problem. I’m thinking I’ll wait and see, still have the Softail! I’m probably not alone on this issue, you would think Harley would recognize the impact of this issue and correct it asap.

Marda,

You planning on buying an 08? It's my understanding the touring models for 08 already have the new rear pulley system in place. If your looking for an 07 good luck on the MOCO fixing the problem on their end. You'll have to dig deep and pay if you want to make the change. As was stated in the article HD considers this an enhancement not a fix. Yeah Right! Good luck on the new ride if you go forward! Botz

I purchased an '08 Ultra in November. The transmission is smooth as silk. Everthing about the bike is what motorcycling should be. I bought a Dyna brand new in 1998. It was a lot of fun. But like the guys told me when I rode away from the dealership, "Once you have a bagger, you'll never go back." If you buy the Ultra, I think you are going to be very happy.

The Ultra has to be the most comfortable bike on the market. I had a 07 & put 6000 miles on it. I needed something smaller because of a health situation.

I was a Softail guy too with a 1990 FLSTC. I bought an 06 FLHTI and never looked back. Smoothest ride I've ever had. And nothing looks cooler than a HOT ROD BAGGER!

This is correct......I went from a RoadKing to and Ultra and haven't regretted it a bit.

If you are ok with the extra size and weight a bagger is tops.

They handle well, are comfortable, hold a bunch of stuff if you need and are a blast to ride.

Go for it.

Carraway, the dealer was right, you'll never look back because the Dyna will be in front of you!

No argument from me, but I'm surprised at how much kick the stock TC96 has compared to my '98 Evo Dyna, although the only mod I had done was stage 1.
