Thanks Upnorth. I am supposed to go an a trip to Eureka Springs in 2 weeks. The dealer says it may take 12 weeks to get all the parts! I'm gonna pick up the bike this weekend, it's ridable but just looks ugly. I talked to the insurance co, they are ok with making the check out to me, then I can order the parts myself and get someof the work done by the time I have to leave. In any case, I'm gonna ride the bike out there - ugly or not.

Road rash and dirt on a Harley, wear it proud, shows you are riding it.

Crashing is always a heinous way to stop. I know your pain, and I'm so sorry. At least you pulled through, and you're still psyched to ride. Not to preach, but I suggest you take it way easy when next you mount. You'll be surprised at the **** that will run through your head. Good luck and heal well

Fender- Sorry to hear about your accident as well. I'm glad you're alright and still able to ride. Man that sucks and I can fully sympathize with the looking ugly part. You could be in my boat right now, the bike is looking good, everything except for the tank has been replaced. Now I have a dressed up Night Train sitting in the garage and I can't take her out 'cause the paw is still broke. Monday the "cast" (I've been stuck in a brace) is suppose to come off, if so Tuesday I'll be her on grinning like a possum eatin' ****!

Sam- I haven't been able to ride since I went down and I know what you mean about the stuff running through your head. Today I started it up and sat on it (in anticipation of being able to ride) and got a little nervous. I shouldn't say nervous, but it was a different feeling than the day I got on the bike before the accident.

Glad to hear you're OK,been there a few times myself, and yes there
are some good bikers out there,in fact it's common here in Britain
for fellow riders to stop and offer assistance,**** we even have the odd automoblie driver.
Good to hear you're on the mend and ready to climb back on and tame the beast.
You will feel a little nervous, thats common, but I think it makes you a better rider and even more conscious of whats around you.Ride safe Bro.

Hey UNFKN,

Dont sweat the HeebeeJeebees. I got left turned last April and was back riding end of June. Fractured wrist and blew the ligaments in my knee. Bike was totaled. I have another so I lucked out there. Anyway, been riding 2 wheelers since Im 8YO (45 now)and this was first time I felt a little uncomfortable with the cagers around me. Still get that squirmish feeling when I see a left turner waiting for me to pass (dont trust them anymore). That has all passed and it will for you too. If anything, it makes you kick back a bit til your ready to take it up a notch. I've reached that point...summer's coming. Get that scoot going. Tank status? BOtz

botz- I'm not sweating it (anymore) I got it yesterday and took it to get some gas, then I rode it out in town through some traffic and all is good now. I rode to work today and it felt great. The tank is on order and should be in, in about 5-7 more weeks. I'm just riding with a dented and scratched tank. Other than that you can't even tell the bike was laid down.

Steel Rider- I fully understand what you mean about walking the scene. That day while I was waiting for the tow truck I walked it from beginning to end several times trying to figure just what in the hell had happened and how it happened. I know it's probably not the same right after the accident as it is after you heal and jump back on the scoot. I've got to get the cojones up to go back up the mountain. The thought of that makes me more nervous than right before we'd go out on patrol while I was in Iraq. I really appreciate the advice, it makes perfect sense and is something I will have to do.

Steel- I will face it and will leave it there. It's my pleasure serving our country. I enjoy what I do.

Glad to hear you're O.K.

Now a days with so many distractions (people on cell phones, eating, rider day dreams) we can never be too careful. No such thing as a causal short ride. We never know when we'll need our gear.
