More power to ya, but after years of tenting in monsoons, air mattresses springing leaks and going flat during the night and temps dipping and waking up freezing I made a pile of my tent, sleeping bag, air mattress and burnt it all! I tell all my friends now "If you see me laying on the ground, call 911 because I'm not down there cause I want to be!" Motorcycles and motels forever!

Being with out a tent in the rain in about low 40 degree temps no cover of any kind........Any tent would sound pretty damn good. Crouched up against a
dead tree with a few buds for about 9 hours hours was the longest night in my life. Jeeze a rain jacket woulda been just fine.

That sounds like quite a night alright, JC. I have a tent from Wal-Mart I used a couple of years ago on a trip through the Smokies in the car. The tent is a little heavy and bulky for the bike. It did keep the rain off me though.
Back about 15 yrs ago my wife got roped into being my elder son's Webelo leader. I joined them on a survival campout in mid December. It was in an area where coal had been strip mined and many of the rocks contained veins of coal.
I slept in my cold weather riding suit. We got sleet all through the night and kept the campfire roaring to stay warm. Each time I would drift off to sleep a rock around the perimeter of the fire would explode like a hand grenade. I'm more or less a fair weather camper but you never know for sure what kind of weather is going to come along.
