I have a '82 flt that has inverted triple trees which you can't buy any parts for and was wondering why I couldn't put any other ones on it. Thanx for any help

Who says you can't put any other trees on there?
I would think that as long as the bearings were the same, and they fit in your current races in your frame, you could put any aftermarket trees on you want!

Hey bud

If memory serves, the triple-trees (fork-clamps/brackets) were inverted (backwards) cuz the frame was a wee longer cuz of the solid frame-mount fairing so they Kinda turned the trees around.. Are you still running the fairing.?

I'm pretty sure street is correct..
Unless diff (normal) trees interfere with the fairing, I bet any set of trees will fit and you should be able to use your forks, lower-legs, etc etc etc.. 41mm (1.625") forks..????

Curious---- what part do you need.? Did you break/bend a top or bottom bracket.? You should be able to find everything else---forks, lower-legs, bearings, seals.. Just my curiosity..

Default confused again

Thanks for the replies. To answer your questions, I am not running the fairing and I'm trying to be able to run the old FL style headlight and trim. Thanks again

The frame was designed for reversed triple trees for the self-centering front end.If you put standard trees on it I imagine its gonna handle funky not to mention look terrible. Why not stick with the reversed trees & run the FLHR nacelle? It's the exact same look you're after & it will still handle like intended.

Ace..... I'm guessing that you are a certified H-D mechanic!
How long have you been certified and just as important (maybe even more in my opinion), how long have you been wrenching on H-D's?

My hats off to you.
20 years certified and even more turning wrenches.
Do you still "love" it or are you looking for retirement?
What is your favorite motor?

Default Retire?

Even after all these years I still look forward to each and every day I can spend turning wrenches.Motorcycles have always been my passion and I'll probably die with a bike on the lift & a wrench in my hand. But what a way to go!

Favorite engine? The Knuck is the best looking, but the T.C. is my favorite for performance work, while Evo's will always be the engine that turned the corner for H-D and techs everywhere,so it's hard to say,I like em' all.
