Default Do any of you carry camera equipment while you ride?

If this is in the wrong section, I apologize. Figuring out just where to put it was challenging.

I'm asking this to all riders I can, do you have any wisdom to share on how to use and keep your good camera safe while you ride?

I cary a LG Dare with a good phone built into it. That is about it for me. Sometimes I may bring along a good digital camera but most times no. My saddlebags are safe for anything I wish to carry. Hope this helps.

OOOH..You ought to be able to get some great pictures with that SLR. Get a good padded camera bag for it and pack your t- shirts around it in the saddle bag for good measure and you'll be fine.
Looking forward to you posting those pictures, Lil

Hi there
I mounted a camera to my handle bars using an insulated pipe clamp from the hardware store for 98 cents. I found a quick release for the camera that has a disc that fits the camera and the release mechanism that bolted to the bars. there is a lever that releases the camera when you want it. then all ya gotta do is push the on button and click a shot out the front while on the road. I would slip my hand thru the strap, then disconnect and take pictures while riding,.,.. takes coordination and may not be recomended, but I did it to get some great shots without stopping the whole pack on a ride. when ya get there it comes right off and away ya go! the quick release was called, Zip-Grip. I got mine on e-bay, but I dont know who or where else to get them.(Maybe a camera shop, but I havent looked cuz I got one allready) it mounts with a 1/4" x 20 thread bolt, same as the camera mounting bolt. any camera will work. I like the smaller ones. I used the video function when I was splitting lanes during my comute home one evening... it looks way crazy on film, but sure is fun, and legal here in california.,

The disc in my hand is what threads into the camera.

Hey,Lil...on top of all the good advise here...you might want to invest in a zip-loc baggie as an extra measure to keep your camera dry and dust free wherever you stash it.

I carry a kodak 10.3 mega-pixel... very small and fits in my vest pocket. Not a whole lot larger than a credit card and maybe 1/2 inch thick. Takes fantastic shots....

To go with that handy quick release I have, I just picked up a 10 mea pix Sanyo S1070 at walmart for about $82 It came with re-chargable batteries and the charger too. Just had to add the memory card of my choice , which was a 2 gig for approx $14. Tomorrow is it's maiden voyage on the bike. It is supposed to be sunny and 60
