Default Bathe and Groom.

Come to think of it.....I have not washed my bike in....Hmmm...in a year or so.

I see the grease and dirt starting to pile up on it. Some bolts are starting to rust. All chrome is non shiney and water spotted from rain. Still have road salt on it from this winter. Leather is looking a little weary.

I better get my Lazy ars moving and wash the thing. I just lost my will to clean it over the last year. It has been Adjusted and Maintained Mechanically.

Runs great. But man. You know how nice it is not having to polish and shine. Away with the fancy chrome on my next ride. Gas and Go.

I do not regret Sanding down all Paint and covering it with Black Bed liner Plasti Kote. That stuff still looks brand new. It has been a number of years now since I did it.

I don't even have to be careful at the pump and dripping gas on the tank.

Hmmm. Maybe I continue to ride and clean it next year. I dunno.....

I have taken this approach with my last two rides and I am very tempted to do this to my current ride. My 1995 Heritage has under 6000 original miles and I have only washed and waxed it once since I got it in March. In another post I describe how S-100 caused me a lot of extra work. I am about to take off and sell the extra chrome is on the bike and flat black the tins.

Went over the whole damn bike in the winter - q-tipped the tight spots, wash, Zymol cleaner/polish, Zymol vintage wax 2 coats, put it together and that's it for the year. What the wind don't get - don't get gotten. I might take time to clean it again but time is valuable as in I could be ridin'.

I washed mine in the rain yesterday. It still looks pretty good after 27,000 miles. I can't let it go. It's not in me.

I had to wash my 09 EG Classic today in the rain. We've had her only 3 weekends now and the 1600 miles of road grime was really starting to get ugly and the bugs we ran through last night had to add 50 pounds! I let it go for 3 whole weekends but I just couldn't stand it anymore, it's such a nice looking bike when it's clean.

Haughster, what problems has S-100 caused you? I use the stuff and swear by it. Spray it on and spray it off, it took all those bugs off with the exception of a very few on the fairing which a sponge took care of.

JCP

I feel the same way about shaving. This was cool in the '70's. Doesn't get much traction these days. For a couple years I told everyone I knew that I wasn't washing my truck because the grime protected the paint. Some actually believed me. When it got to the point I could measure the thickness of the grime I finally washed it. I think having a lobotomy would stop me from worrying about anything. Might even be cheaper than powder coating everything. If I get one I'll let y'all know how it turns out.

I read the directions on the S-100 and followed them to the letter. Spray on, wash off right away until no suds appear. I let the bike dry and I had white spots all over the bike. I washed it two other times and had to wax the bike to get rid of the spots. The more I look at the bike the more spots I see that the wax did not remove.

Jeez Louise! I got a bike so I'd have something better to do with my time than domestic chores. If I wanted to polish, I'd clean my bathroom, or do my nails. Though I do scrape off the windshield when I can't see the road in front of me any more...
