Thanks for the warm welcome! Of all the sites I looked at concerning the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, I could tell that this was the best thing going. I spent the afternoon riding and when I got back home, I changed the oil in the bike. I was told that I'd only need 1 quart of tranny to change out the primary, but I drew out a bit more than a quart. I guess I'd better consult the factory manual and see what it says, before taking the bike out again.

Sure glad you got to go riding.....I was gonna go riding after i fixed the brakes on my work truck......... no such luck. Who ever the idiot was that did the seals before I bought the truck should be shot. they hit the edge of one seal and bent it so it leaked into the drum and hosed the shoes. This is on a 1-ton full floating diff. What a mess! But at least now I got a safe work truck for monday. and I can go riding all day tomorrow without worrying about work.

As far as the amount of oil in your primary, you got the right idea, consult the book.

Ha-Ha! Yup! If anybody can muck up a sentence, it is me! I consulted "ye olde" service manual and I'm good to go with the 1 quart amount. I drained about 1-1/2 quart amount from the primary case. It looked to have been overfilled just a bit. The engine oil definitely needed changing. Very black. I thought about going with a synthetic, but since it's been run solely on HD Dino oil, I figured I'd better keep using that.

If you sell one set of those shocks, try a new seat. I have a dyna and bought the mustang seat and I will ride 500 miles a day with no issues at all. I also run the stock shocks.
I have a 07' street bob.
Welcome to the forum..........

Just an update. Despite my indecisiveness, I finally managed to reach a decision. I put around 100 miles on the bike on Friday and I guess I just needed to get used to riding again. I put my shocks on ebay motors.
PROGRESSIVE MODEL 412 SHOCKS CHROME HARLEY-DAVIDSON!!!:eBay Motors (item 270421461688 end time Jul-12-09 17:43:34 PDT)

I'm gonna spend the proceeds back into the bike in the form of some cool drag type bars. I can't decide whether to go with T-bars or Y-bars. I've got some time to hash all that out though!

That's all part of the fun of owning a bike!

I like Z-bars myself, and am thinking of puttin' them on my BMC. But it may make me lean too far forward.

Would be nice to try them without having to buy them.......
on one bike, I bent, cut and welded some old water pipe into the shape I wanted, then went down and had them matched to what was available.
