I would leave the bike at home and spend the time you would be riding by doing fun things with your kids. As has been said here, they are only children for a small amount of time and the time you spend with them now will be something they remember the rest of their lives.

When my kids were young I sold my FXE and bought a Dune Buggy, then towed the buggy behind the car until we got to the vacation spot, then everyone would pile into the Buggy.
My kids are still talking about the fun trips we took in that Dune Buggy.
The kids are only young for a short time, don’t miss it.

Gotta go with the consensus on this one. Kids grow faster than weeds on a fresh cut lawn. One minute you can't wait for them to fall asleep on a Friday night and the next you can't wait for the next time they visit on a Sunday afternoon. After all Sturgis is already fully grown and not going anywhere. Your call, stay safe and have a great vacation either way.

Can't believe they're all growed up....

Thanks for the opinions, I still haven't decided if I'm going to drag it along. If I take the bike, it won't interfere with any of the family time as I'd be riding mostly during our traveling time & riding ahead of the truck. I know Catie would ride with me, she's 16 & wants to get her bike license. Just don't know if I want to go through the hassle of listening to the "real bikers" I might run across give me crap for hauling the bike!

Sounds like an enclosed trailer might be part of the answer.

Don't put the trailor behind the truck.
Just ride the bike and let the wife drive..... all will be good!!!!!

Uncle P,
Enclosed trailer would make life easy! I been thinking of buying one for when I'm working out of town so I've got a garage for the bike, but I haven't brought myself to drop the coin yet!

Street Bob,
I'm all for riding the bike the whole way but the wife ain't for driving the truck the whole way! There lies the problem! Besides, the way she drives compared to the way I ride, I'd be to Yellowstone & back home before she got to Yellowstone!

I'm thinking this year the bike's going to get left behind like the pooch. A friend of mine is moving to Tennesee (about an hour from Deals Gap NC) this fall. My bike vacation might come next summer when I ride down to visit!

Uncle P,

Why didn't I think of that?!?!?! I'm going out to the truck right now to get my HOG atlas and give it a gander! I think there's a HD dealer in Cody, we're staying in Cody Monday night, West Yellowstone Tues & back to Cody Wed night. This might be the answer, Thanks!

Anyway, thanks to all who replied!
