Default Opinions about trailering my bike.

Here's the situation I'm facing. Going on a family vacation next week, East Iowa to Yellowstone & back. Should I put the bike on the trailer & ride when I can or just suck it up and be a good Dad & go a week without my bike(we are going through Sturgis!)? I'd really like to ride the bike in Yellowstone (and more if nobody grumps). I know Catie will ride with me but I think the wife would get a bit hard to get along with if she has to drive too much with the trailer behind the truck.

What's everyone's opinion on this? Leave the bike home or take it along? It's already been explained to me that, Moose, my golden retriever, is going to the kennel & not making the trip with us. If he was going I'd leave the bike home without a second thought.

What's your opinion?

Jim S

Leave your wife and the bike in the garage for a week.
When the week is up.
Open the door and see which one is happy to see you.!!!

I really is a decision only you and the wife can make.
When faced with the same dilema, we left the bike at home. and considered renting a bike along the way, but never did.
Next trip I think I will trailer the bike so we have the option.

Uncle P,

I'll forgive you since you've never met the wife!
If i had to chose betwixt taking the dog and the wife I'd take the dog, he's always happy to see me! The wife?? Not so much!!

I'm thinkin' I might take the bike on a trailer & tell the naysayers I run across to go piss up a rope!

You said it all, "be a good Dad". Has nothing to do with the wife or the dog. Find as many things to do that guarantees fun for the kids and spend as much time as possible with them.
My opinion only. And I'm not bustin' your chops. Talking from personal experience here.

Yeah, all joking aside, the kids are only little for a very short time. Ours are 23 and 24 got 2 girls, they live next door, but good grief, it was only a short time ago, they were little and we were taking them all over the place...doing fun stuff that they still talk about. camping, going to the lake etc.

just follow your gut, and you will be fine.

Tuff decision, how long's the vacation and how old the children. The reason take the bike and ride them along the way for short periods of time and they'll think they rode the whole trip. If not it's your call, my youngest is 25 with 2 of her own and like was said it just seems like yesterday and we were planning the weekend fishing trips. So now I just give the grandkids rides as well as my kids (my baby still trying to afford a bike). Hope you have a great vacation though.

Take the bike with you. You know if you don't you'll be kicking yourself later. Your wife will get over it sooner or later and you'll not regret it.
