Default Adding new pipes and I need to modify the mounting bracket...

Ok guys, I need a little guidance here. I am adding 36" fishtail extensions on my Samson true dual headers. I did not get the Samson extensions as they are out of my budget right now. The mounting bracket for the Samson slip ons are in line with the pipes, but I am going to have to use a p clamp or something to attach them to the brackets. Should I have the brackets bent and welded a bit so they line up with the p clamps, fashion m,y own sort of bracket to work with what I have or what? I met a guy who had the same setup a couple of weeks ago and he had the Samson brackets welded so the clamps fit right up. I do not have a weld or know how to weld so it looks like I will be heading to a metal shop if so.

If you h ave any other ideas that are simple and inexpensive let me know please as the pipes are arriving today. Thanks.

Default Re: Adding new pipes and I need to modify the mounting bracket...

If you get away from the city and out in the agricultural towns there are welding and fabrication shops who can make what you need amazingly cheap. My favorite shop has welded doors back on my rust bucket car, fabricated mounting brackets and skids on my mower deck when it got messed up, repaired my plow, and when the rear fender on my old Shovel cracked from metal fatigue I took it off the bike and headed off to work telling my wife, "Take this to Dale's, they'll know what to do." On the bottom of the fender you can see the patch, but on the top you cannot see the weld at all...beautiful work.
Sketch out what you need with dimensions and details, if you can't find such a shop over there PM me, I'll give you my address and I'll see what their charge would be. I think even with shipping it would be a fraction of what an urban shop charges. (I've priced such work in the city and the difference is ten-fold.) If you need them chromed that part is up to you, I don't have an inside track with those guys.
