Default How Many "Lone Wolves" here?

Since I'm a "re-cycled" motorcyclist, I'm a novice at some of the things that more seasoned riders take for granted. So far, with the exception of the Mrs. riding with me a couple of trips, I've been riding solo. There are some distinct advantages to the solo ride, such as having exclusive decision-making over setting course and pace. But being a social creature, I often wonder what it would be like to ride with one of those groups I often see on the highway. Would I see some new rides that I'd not been aware of before? I've got a couple of friends who ride, but work or family obligations always seem to be an issue. Lone wolf, gets kind'a lonely sometimes. Anybody else ever get that same vibe?

I have been a member of a couple of 'groups' of bikers... and the internal bickering and politics make me wander away. Right now I am a Lone Wolf, but will drop in on any one of 4 or 5 different 'groups' and am always welcomed. I have not made any enemies, it is just that the politics take all the fun out of riding sometimes.

Group riding is a blast... just get in line, follow along and see a lot more scenery. When you stop there are many different stories to hear about each others lives....

Try it, you may like it.

I find myself not looking for company more and more these days.
So many so called "bikers" these days are more like "drinkers". Riding means hit every fockin' bar you pass. 8 hours, 12 beers and 4 miles is the typical day "out in the wind". As I refuse to drink in excess and ride it's a boring experience. So I hit the pavement solo more times than not and do my 100 miles or so before stopping.

There's a group of 4 or 5 of us that always get together when our schedules allow and go for a ride. The one thing I've learned is that I won't know until I get there is what type of ride we're going on. 100 miles up into the middle of the state or a ride over to the beach for a cold one The one thing you don't do is say you don't want to go to the suggested place because you are then labeled as a "wanna be" rider and might be better off at home Then they start calling you and e-mailing you with all kinds of comments reguarding you and your bike!

Most of my riding is alone. My wife and I enjoy the fact we can go where we want, when we want on our schedule as we want. Every now and again when work schedules permit I'll ride with a couple buddies. I'm not much into the bar scene and I can drink or ride but can't do both so I chose to ride alone and get quality miles...

I normally ride by myself. I ride with a friend when our schedules allow. I no longer ride with a group larger than 5 total, counting myself. Too many different riding styles in large groups. As I stated before in another post...I rode with a large group whose main focus was waving at every bike coming our way regardless of weather or road conditions. This is stupid and dangerous. So, now I prefer to be by myself for many reasons. I don't wave unless I actually know the other person and it is safe to do so.

I ride alone most of the time but if friends want to get together I'll ride with them. They don't stop every 10 miles for a bar. Just not into mixing bikes and beer anymore. Been there and lucky to live through it. Just out to enjoy the ride.

I refuse to drink and ride and normally stay at the speed limit. That limits my choices as most I have talked to go the other way - to each his own. For the most part, I don't ride to anywhere. I just head out and end up back where I started. I have tagged along with small groups I encountered at a stop light and it was neat. If a group comes up behind me, I just move over and wave them through so I won't hold them up. The last bike usually gives a friendly wave which is what is all about in my opnion. I guess I am a it's the ride not the destination kind of guy.

Well, I wouldn't be so dramatic as to call myself a "lone wolf" or a "wolf" of any sort but, I have a history of riding alone as in a single bike. I count either just me or both my wife and I riding as "alone".
I am a speed limit freak. I will go the posted speed limit to the decimal place. At all times. Everywhere. I normally will not drink at all and if, on the rare occasion that I do, it will absolutely be no more than one beer.

Due to my crazy work schedule it's hard to plan anything with riding friends. I mainly ride alone.
