Default Any Deals at Bike Rallies

Yes wanted to get some information on bike sales at the bigger rallies.
I`am planning to attened Biketoberfest this year and kind of in the market for a bike. Are the dealers at these rallies, willing to make a deal or do they jack the prices up due to the crowds that they know will be there. Looking for some good honest advice on this, will it be worth waiting till October or if I find something now go ahead and get it.
Thanks

At Laughlin this year, I approached the Big Dog guys and talked about thier right hand drive bikes... I was interested in changing mine over. after ''proving'' to me that it ''couldnt'' be done and I would just have to buy thier bike.. he he... I asked about buying one. Well, the guy then says he was just there to show them and not sell them??? that seemed odd, so I couldnt figure out why they were even there. So I says, I cant buy one if you dont want to sell them...and wandered away....he had to be joking and I didnt get it. then I saw the Jack Daniels Girls and forgot all about the bikes...

Someone must be there to sell bikes, but that is the only experience I had with this subject. (of actually asking about buying one) I have of course seen price tags etc on them.

only thing I can think of is they ''show'' them there and you are supposed to go to your local dealer to buy one.??

Welcome to the forum! Do some research and get some pricing before October rolls around. Go to Destination Daytona while you're there, I've seen some pretty good prices whenever I go there. I'm guessing that you're planning on a Harley, might be some good deals on 09's

As I understand it some of the motorcycle companies are there to support their dealers and legally can't sell a new or used motorcycle unless they are licensed as a dealer in that state.

On the other hand many of the motorcycle manufacturers are there to help support their local motorcycle dealers and can often "steer you" towards one.

And from what I hear most dealers are looking for a sale - even at a discount. Good luck either way.

Topgun, welcome to the forum!

Every big rally and many small rally I have been to had tons of used bikes for sale. Having said that I would start looking as soon as you have the money because with times as tough as they are now people are unloading things like Big Dog and Iron Horse Bikes. Especially those who bought because it was a fad. Look around your local area and see what they have to offer and if you don't find it keep checking as a really good deal won't last long.

Hope that helps

I know of a Boss Hoss dealer that has an American Iron Horse he wants to sell. I was told he was going to be selling it at a big discount. I do not know if it is new or used. Send me a PM if you are interested and I'll give you his info.

Yeah Uncle, the guy at the big dog truck was probably just the truck driver. That's all he does, is drive around the country and put up the truck and the bikes. They only have 2 trucks so if you knew which one it was I could tell you the guys name. But yeah, they can't sell bikes. Further, they usually have a local dealer there that could sell you bikes but not sure about a discount.

Want to learn more on the big dogs check out Big Dog Biker PUt me down as a referal and I'm sure you'll find a couple posts with my name. LOL!

And anybody looking at a BDM, buy slightly used. There are lots of guys that buy the chops and either figure out they don't like em or don't want to turn a wrench or just have too much money. The bottom fell out of the market so there are plenty up for sale on the forum, ebay, craigslist, etc for mid teens. Usually with pipes, sissy bars, and low milage.
