Default Trading up?

With the new 96" anchoring the 2007 models, how many 88" owners are thinking about trading up? A year from now it will be interesting to see what the used bike market is like, and if there's a surge of impulse buyers dumping their 88s for the new powerplant.

I think a fair number of people will treat the new 96" motor much the same as they do when new cars, computers and the like come out. Most will continue to use what they have until the time comes to trade...and then decide if they want the newest or would rather go for a good used model.
You could drive yourself crazy trying to keep the latest technology in your grasp.
Not to mention the $$$$ involved.
Bigger may not always be better......
Now that HD has seen fit to increase motor sizes as quickly as they have since the 80" Evo; I look for them to keep doing it for the impulse buying factor as well as to keep up with the EPA and their increasing restrictions.
In addition; I wouldn't be surprised to see more models become liquid cooled in the not to distant future.
In the meantime; my "old" 88" only has 20,000 miles on it; so that won't be a decision I'll have to make anytime soon.

The funny thing about the new bikes is that the dealers have alot of 06's on the floor and are saying that they have such terrific deals although I can't see much price change from before. The only 1 that I talked to that got a 07 was the Sales Manager and he said they made him such a good deal he couldn't pass it up. When I asked him if that was 1 of the benefits of working there he just grinned. Most people I talked to are taking a wait and see attitude to see what kind of bugs need to be worked out with the new motors. Kinda like the 6 speeds in the Dynas when they 1st came out last year and had trouble with them.

I will.

But not because of the engine or 6 speed.

I was already working on a deal when I got wind of 95" 6 speeds.

95 or 96 I don't really care about. Dropping a few RPMs at my preferred cruising speed is noce though.

The heart of my reason is my wifes Deluxe. If I hadn'r ridden it I would have been happy with the Dyna forever.

Tell me if I'm wrong but isn't this what the TC88 is and was supposed to be all along. This is nothing more than the motor co getting around epa. My 2000 FXDWG is fine for me and I have no intention of trading. I doubt very seriously if one of the new bikes would come close to mine, she's a true TC88 cam ignition heads pipes puts out 90+ and 100 torque. And most of all she is all mine Paid For. Wife works at the local HD dlr they are silling 120+ bikes per month dont have a single 06 left and they bought 06's from dlrs all over the country and are buying 07's above and beyond there allotment. This is Rocket HD Huntsville Al they sell every bike they can get a hold of at about 2k over MSRP. Its a pertty afluent area. Keeping my 2000 even though I can get a super deal because of wife

Tipper,

Big difference over here in NY. All the dealers are flooded with bikes. Alot of leftovers. They cant give them away. Some dealers are advertising 2,000 under MSRP. I walked into my local dealer the other day and had my choice of bike, color, etc. all 2006 models...not sporties either. The market is so flooded over here you cant even sell a used bike at this point. It's cheaper to by a new one. The dealers over here used to inflate the prices, put you on a waiting list and act like they were doing you a favor...not anymore...now they offer you the world to sign on the dotted line. How things change.

They had a tent sale here 2 wk end ago sold 60 2006's and 10 07's most of the 06's they bought from other dealers, Remember this Hsv was just named the #1 city to live raise a fam etc. also is #7 in per capita income, and the average price of a home is 100k 1600 sq ft and sits on an acre. Only bad thing is the quality of riders we are getting a lot are two bike Hub and Wife riding and there young big need for speed.

Sounds like a nice place to live. I live in Ct which is ranked #1 in per capita income but these rankings are usually boogus because most of the money is usually located in one area of a state. Most of the money here is located in Greenwich which is pissing distance from New York City! Average price of a home? $250-300k 1600 sq ft half acre. Maybe i'll become a transplanted yankee sometime in the future! Anyway we have the same problem here with a lot of newbies on the road. P.S. Everytime somebody hears that your from Ct they think you're rich which really pisses me of, believe me we're not.
