Actually I have heard and seen people call a Harley Sportster with saddlebags a bagger. And why not?

I agree with Chris. Windshields are not needed. I never had one and I don't wear a helmet either. Just a pair of goggles over my glasses. I imagine a windshield will keep you from feeling too much of the wind in your face but isn't that what riding is all about?

I think in the traditional sense a "Bagger" needs to have factory bags and is sold that way. The windshield does not, in my mind, enter into the equation. Either you ride with one or you don't. My buddy rides a Wide Glide with leather bags and a windshield and he would be upset if you called his bike a "Bagger".

Why don't we submit pictures of these rides. Many people have nice bikes and this a great way to share ideas

Stock bags... hmm... good call. But what about those like Softtailbagger (mod here) that has hard bags on his softtail?

Bagger is a user defined terminology.
It is not like black and white that can be easily defined.
Black is the absents of light, or the combination of all colors.
White it all the colors combined, or the absence of any color.
See how easy that was to define and how much since it made.
This is like defining Biker.
You can’t be a biker if you ride a Honda, have a job, carry a cell phone, have any bags.
This is user defined.
How many bags does it take to make a bagger, is it a one bagger or a two bagger.
How many baggers have you had in your life.
Personally I have had two one baggers and one two baggers although I was drunk at the time and my friends said all were three baggers.
Can you make a bagger out to a non-bagger Can you make a non-bagger out of a bagger,.
Soft bags; hard bags; plastic bags; hand bags; bagger boy.
Which is a real bagger.
This is like defining what is “is.”
So many questions, no real answers.
Hope this made since.

I guess if you take a Softail like Steve did and modify it to make it more of a permanent "Bagger" then I would think it qualifies. Nice job by the way. My buddy, of course, just hung some bags and a windshield for convenience sake and has no intention of making his bike a "Crossover Bagger". I suppose the key word here is "intent".

Bagger, Cruiser, Tourer, Sport Tourer, Sport Cruiser, Adventure Tourer. Seems we have no end of people trying to make every type of motorcycle some type of specialty. If it has two wheels and a motor it must be a motorcycle! If it has bags, hard or soft, it must be a bagger! A windshield is a convience that can be added to most motorcycles, they do not make a bike a bagger. My friends who ride RK have the added convience of being able to remove the windshield, and still be able to carry thier stuff in the hard bags. So Buzz, for my money if it has bags, it's a bagger. Now biker, riding enthusiest, motorcyclest, rider, that must be another thread.
