So obviously a Harley bagger has to have saddlebags, but we at the magazine have heard a number of arguments about if a Harley bagger HAS to have a windshield.

American Iron Magazine Editor Chris Maida likes the bags but really dislikes windshields on his Harleys. I, on the other hand have always liked having bags on my Harley rides AND I appreciate a decent windshield too.

How do you feel about this? Do you agree more with Chris about Harley baggers or me? Your opinion might effect what we feature in the magazine especially when it comes to Harley bagger features.

I have to go the windshield route with you Buzz. More comfortable, more protection and I can't see myself in a full face helmet. I might look better in a full face...but I like the protection a wind shield offers, plus the ability to hear a little better. When I was young no windshield and bugs in the teeth didn't bother me...and I think a bagger looks better with a wind shield..

I think some sort of windshield shoud be on a 'bagger' to complete the look, even if it is only 4" tall.

A bagger to me, has a fairing too, and a fairing without a windshield would look odd.

Yep, baggers should have windshields.
I always leave mine on my dyna street bob.
It might be an age thing as well, same as having a bagger.
I was told 3 decades ago that if I ever had a windshield on any of my bikes, I'd never take it off. Well, the first time I had a windshield was 4 years ago and I RARELY ever take it off!

Lot of road king guys with hard bags that would say they are on a bagger.

I myself only consider a batwing and a road glide a real bagger.

Chris doesn't like windshields because there isn't one short enough for him to look over. I think that is a direct qoute from him.

I' would say a bagger has the works (hard bags, windshield), otherwise you could call a Sportster with bags and windshield a bagger to.

just cover both i personally like them stripped down,no bags,fairing , etc

If I ever own a 2nd motorcycle (which I will ) it would be another bagger, RK to be exact...just so I can remove the shield!
