I can't speak about the curent Heritage, but my '87 does not compare to my FLHTI in terms of comfort. There is more room for the rider and passenger on the dresser. I don't feel as pushed up against the tank. The FLHTI handles much better than the Heritage, also. There is less rake in the neck of the Touring platform than the Heritage. I can't give you an exact comparison, but I hope this helps.

The older evo softail doesn't compare to the newer 88B motor twin cam. But I have to agree that the Road King is a much better machine for two up touring than the Heritage. That being said the Heritage is great if you buy it for the right reasons. The style of the softail and the low seat height make it a very comfortable, sit in the bike type of ride and the new counterbalanced 88B motor is as smooth as the King and can be ridden for hours on end. Go to one of the major bike events, have your motorcycle license and a DOT helmet and try them both.

Ground clearance- Road King
Low speed handling- Road King
Vibration "cool" factor (at stoplights)..."look daddy, his motor's wiggling around, THAT'S KEWL!! - Road King
Looks "cool" factor (saddlebags and shield off in no time) - Heritage

Buy both

If you get a Roadking, you're gonna have to ride two-up everytime you ride. Get a Dyna.

Update on the roadking. I went on ebay and to make a long story short ended up getting a mint condition (I'm told) 2007 with 8100 miles on it for $10,999.00. Stage1 is all done, and there are a 'few extras' on it. I'm picking it up on Saturday with no cash down until I get to eyeball it and make sure she's as advertised. Ran the Vin and it's not stolen. And, he has all the service records there for me to see.
Whadda ya think?
