Welcome! I'd go with the H-D books. You will re-coup your money after the first or second time you use them when considering current labor rates at the dealership. Also if you shop online Chicago H-D lists the books for a substantial discounted price.(service manual-$48.00)

I use all 3 - HD manuals and Clymer.

HD because its made for just that bike. Plus they come with part numbers inside for things like gaskets and stuff.

I say go with the Clymer and/or Haynes manuals

unless you don't want to occasionally find the incorrect instuctions and/or diagrams to "whatever" mixed in with their stuff.

I took your advise and did buy a genuine HD shop manual. After searching for days the best deal I could find was on ebay for 51.55 with shipping. Like one of the posters said, don't buy it at the dealership. They were low to mid 60.00 on their price. I will get the parts manual from the same people for about 38.00.

Good to hear you got a deal... If you dont mind me asking, What was the sellers name? were they a 'store' or a private seller?

I am in the market for a couple harley manuals.

Hey Unc, if your not shy about buying on-line check out my previous posting. If you check with Chicago H-D's web site you can find the shop manuals ( genuine H-D) for a good discounted price. I shop with them regularly and they also discount parts and motor clothes ( usually around 20%). Everything isn't always available and they note those items as "in-store only". I registered with Harley Davidson. com and selected Chicago H D as my preferred dealer. I am currently awaiting my recent order. I ordered a shop manual for my '09 Ultra for $48. They are generally quick to respond to orders and ship promptly. They charge for shipping so I always try to put together enough items at the lower price to off-set any shipping which isn't too difficult. I still support my local dealer for items that aren't available on-line but often the discounted prices on-line are too good to pass up. Anyway, keep ridin'.

The manual was sold on ebay by: "harley-parts-and-gear"

They are a power seller with 1380 transactions with a 99% positive rating. I will get the parts manual from them too. We'll see how they do with shipping. Speaking of which, most of the shippers from manual stores shipped the same manual for 10.00. Hoping to time it so the bike and it come at the same time. If there is any help that I can offer, let me know, OK?

I'm really not cheap. Got the FLH on a good deal. Got pretty good, cheap insurance, got a decent rate on the shipping. Got a decent deal on the shop manual. I'm just trying to keep this trend going. Actually its kinda fun doing the research. Most of the time it pays.
