Default Mustang Seat

I recently purchased a Mustang solo seat for the Retro-Glide and I really liked it. Much more comfortable on longer rides than the HD Sundowner solo I had on it. So I bought the matching rear seat and man I can't get that thing to fit onto the back worth a darn. It seems it just won't slide onto the nuts deep enough (stop laughing) so I can attach the rear screw (ok, really stop it).

I was going to call Mustang in the morning but has anyone else encountered this problem?

Mustang makes some great products, so that does not sound right. Give them a call and ask what they recommend. Let us know how it works out for you.

Mr. Big When I bought my Mustang seat I had the same problem. I actually bent the seat attachment from the rear seat (The part that hooks into the front seat) down just a tad and it worked fine. Just be real careful and don't bend it too much. It doesn't take much. Hope that helps.

Well, I'm a knucklehead. As usual, if all else fails, read the directions. I called Mustang and they pointed out I was supposed to remove the nuts off the fender bolts and then attach the driver seat! The HD solo I had on orginally did not come with directions and I just assumed it mounted on top of the nuts. Nuts! Anyway, rear seat popped right on after correctly mounting the front. I'm still amazed at how much more comfortable this seat is on longer trips. No more butt burn after 45 minutes.

I agree. Mine was sooo comfortable for about 40,000 to 45,000 then it got harder. Guess the foam lost it's memory after my fat butt was in the saddle too much I am now looking at having it redone. I am not complaining I think most seats would do this after 40,000+ miles.

Glad you got your problem solved

I agree. I was going to send my HD seat to Mean City Cycles for a redo before I bought the Mustang. You might consider them for yours as I think they're doing aftermarket seats now.

Hey Big
That is the plan right now. Actually I think I will send my Harley Seat to them 1st as the HD dealer broke my mustang seat and I didn't realize it until a day or so later so I will need to pull the leather off it and see if I can fix it first. I might even see if I can make it more comfy myself! Never did nuttin like that, but it is worth a try

Can't hurt to try Sarge. Let me know how it turns out. Maybe a gel pad insert?

What is wrong with it, is it a metal pan?
