Default Seafoam

I for one am skeptical of oil and gas additives of any kind. Remember STP oil treatment along with a host of other products threw the years that proved to be totally bogus? I've been hitting a number of other sites to try and get more info on it and they all seem to swear by this product which has been around for 50+ years. I'm looking for some feed back and experiences that some of you out there may have had with this product. Is this stuff for real?

Hey Myt

I have No clue if it works but you can google it and get Lotsa reviews, about 1/2 & 1/2 pro - con.. Here's one of many..
seafoam reviews - Google Search

According to the Seafoam site it contains -----

Pale Oil ----- which is just one of Many synomyms of a Heavy Paraffinic Solvent found in Quaker, Wal-Mart, Havoline, Valvoline etc. motor oils, Anti-Seize, almost all STP gas, oil and injector treatments, Paints, Furniture polish, Nutragena SunBlock, Hair products and literally about 50 other things..

Naptha ---- Just a simple Hydrotreated Light Petroleum

and

ISA ---- this is precious,, it's just Isoproply Alchohol - 2 Proponol

Ooh yeah--- Have a ball

Up untill now, the only sea foam I knew was that smelly fluffy stuff on the beach that I used to kick up in the air and let the wind take it away and get all over my sister and make her scream!!!

All of today's major gasoline have additives to keep injectors running cleaner. What happens when an injector doesn't close entirely on shutdown, the fuel dribbles out and can start leaving deposits and affect the spray pattern. Most use Sea Foam as an aid in cleanig these injectors. Most use SeaFoam when getting bikes out of storage, carb bikes still balk on "stabilized" fuel. Snake oil or true stuff, who knows, there are a lot of believers. I've used on the carb bike to keep the fuel varnishs at a minimum.

I'm a believer! Never used it on the Harley, but I have a carbureted Honda that would not run without the choke on at least 3/4. I put a couple ounces of seafoam in the gas tank and now it runs like a dream. I checked the plugs before adding it - they were completely fouled and black. Pulled them after adding this stuff and riding maybe 10 miles and they were clean.

I use this stuff all the time. I don't know what's all in it but in my 90 fxr it feels like the same boost when I used to spike my tank with aviation fuel. Just seems cleaner off dead throttle. Put it in my b&s mower that I thought was shot, runs like new. Word of caution, put it in and run the motor a good while. It'll run shabby at first but will clear out. All that junk in the jets and such coming clean. My .02.

I might add that in my 95 grand am tranny, took away the slipping that had me believe I was going to have to replace the trans. After 2k, drained and refilled tranny.

Seafoam is great for outboard motors and other 2-cycle engines.
