I posted a similar thread under "American Iron Magazine" hoping to land a cushy job at the magazine, but no luck.So here goes:The economy & the lousy riding season have made it financially prohibitive to continue our "old school" bike shop.People (around here anyway)just aren't spending money on their bikes like they once did,so we are being forced to downsize & only open the shop part time.Unfortunately I can't survive without a steady paycheck so Im reaching out to the forum members to help me in my search for a new shop so I can continue to serve the motoring public.I've resigned myself to having to relocate, preferably to a climate where the riding season is longer than three or four months.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Sorry to hear the work is not coming in so well, Ace. I hope you get something worked out, relocating further South could be a win-win situation, steadier demand for motorcycle repair and longer riding season for your own enjoyment.
In the meantime I suppose you could diversify into other small engine work, plenty of chain saws, snow blowers, snowmobiles etc. out there to tide you through the Winter and lawn care equipment in the Summer.

I like the suggestions Frisco came up with. Both areas have great riding weather and lots of bikes on the road year round. Slows down a little in the summer but some of keep riding even in the heat.
Good luck.

ACE, The local shop I use here in Clarksville, TN seems to be doing a pretty brisk business as more folks here are keeping thier older bikes. The riding season is longer as well. The place is: LA Motors and Customs, 931-552-9840. They're good folks but I am unsure if they are looking for additional mechs.
Umm. 90 degrees? You need somebody to hand you tools? Good luck Ace. I hope someone is smart enough to hire you and take advantage of your knowledge and skills. Clif
There are more of us each day...it's not getting better...don't be fooled...
Be sure to check out the economics in Tampa, too...people are running from Fla. Two seperate friends of mine have just moved to Tampa, and are now regretting it. One of them is an m/c tech, but I don't know who for.
Hey, it may work great for you, and I hope it does, just saying to think twice. That is a gorgeous area, and to be on the gulf side is a big plus! So, good luck to you...
