I had the privilege of meeting Dr Dyno a couple of weeks ago at a local swap meet. I've seen him before at larger events but he's usually pretty busy and a large crowd gathers around his dyno so it's pretty hard to just to hang out and talk with him. Well because this was a local swap meet i had the chance to have a one on one with him at least for a short time. He is one of the most laid back and pleasant people i've ever met at least in the motorcycle world. I had a few questions for him and he was more than willing to give his opinion with the technical knowledge to back it up. He even told me a story about a manufacturers product claims. Now he didn't say that the products were bad, just that the claims that they made were a little exaggerated and he proved it! By the way while i was there he added 8-9 hp and 6-8 ibs torque to a bike by just making the proper adjustments, no parts, no tricks just pure knowledge! If you ever get the chance to just sit and talk with him you'll know exactly what i mean.
Frisco, if it was just me making a comment about a product i'd let the whole world know but i don't think it would be right to put DR DYNO on the spot! Sorry Bro.
It was a carb and it was a horsepower claim on a doctored dyno[no pun intended]. Frisco if you want to give me your e-mail address i'll tell you but i won't put it on line here.
I totally understand... As I made the request I figured perhaps he would not want to go "public" so to speak, with his findings, I'll keep mum...
Yup, the Miks have become my favorite... When I took the unSuper G off the 120" and installed the 48 Mik it was like adding inches...
Same results with the 93" shovel and the hopped 80" EVO, both got 45 Miks...
Years ago I was running a ratty old Panhead down in Daytona during Bike Week, made up of all sorts of parts and years. I hd recently bought the bike and had just taken delivery of it that week. It ran OK, but not great. I found Dr. Dyno early one morning before the crowds built and he rolled that nasty old Pan up into his rolling dyno. He adjusted the ignition, points and the carb and added something like 15% more horsepower. Then he drilled a small hole near the end of the exhaust pipe and installed a simple bolt to add a bit of back pressure and he added another 5% more power. After that the bike ran much better. He knows his stuff. - Buzz Kanter
This guy is the real deal, with a real sense of humor! I booked an appointment with him to check my 05 Roadglide in Sturgis last summer. He gave me a pretty hard time about having a SERT instead of a Power Commander and showed me why. The PC takes 1/2 the time to tune.
In a short time he massaged out some bad dips in my torque and also cured a very lean rear cylinder.
