Re: a fast harley history Oh boy, another "almost right" history of the MoCo. (rolls eyes)
There were no motorcycles at all produced in 1903, and only one underpowered "motorized bicycle" produced in 1904. If you don't believe me, read the book by the man who did the research, Herbert Wagner. The book is called "At The Creation". (Ever wonder why the 50th Anniversary model was produced in 1954--- while one of the founders was still alive?)
74-ci motor shows up on the 1921 order blanks as a J model, which go back to 1917.
The WL was introduced in 1940, not 1929. Yes, the 45-inch motor appeared in 1929, but it was not a "WL", it was a "D" model.
The first 74" OHV appeared in 1941, not 1947. |
