Which plant was this? I am going to the York area in 2 weeks and do not want to waste my time if it is not worth it.

Ever see Bruce Willis in Armaggedon? The Chinese clients show uppn the oil rig and he points up and says "Look at all the shiny pipes"?

It was THAT bad.

I was in Milwaukee. It was, to be fair, the abbreviated tour. I think they called it the Cam Tour. But it was a waste of time.

As for York, never been there.

I toured the York plant on Tuesday. Not the abbreviated tour--we saw a 10-minute video (brief history of the Motor Company) then a 1-hour walking tour of the plant. Our guide was miked, and we all had earpieces with volume control to get past the noise on the factory floor. Safety goggles, too! We saw multiple manufaturing/fabrication stations (robotic and human-operated), from fenders being vacuum press-molded out of raw sheet steel to jiffy stands being hammered out of heated rod stock, to sub-assembly and master assembly areas along the conveyor path, all the way up to the final static riding station where the senior auditor took a new touring bike though all six gears on the rollers. (The sound-proof booth wasn't--so we were all treated to that familiar and welcome rumble!) While hot (no AC in the factory!), the tour was informative and entertaining. My HOG chapter takes an annual ride out to York, and I'll definitely go again.

I went on the York factory tour last year. It was pretty awesome. Well worth goin to and seeing how its done.

And maybe the long version in Milwaukee is worthwhile.

But the short "cam" tour is a waste.

Took the tour in Milwaukee when I was there for the 100th and thought it was a good tour, did the powertrain operations. I am looking forward to going to York so I can see where my 07 Street Glide was born.
