Default Forum 'Expert(s)' - as idea whose time has come?

Please consider this note as a suggestion for this forum: I believe the forum should have an appointed 'expert' for the technical questions that are posted. This person (or persons) would have years of hands-on experience, either from a customs shop or dealership, and must be very willing to regularly (as in daily) reply to technical posts submitted. For example, I would like to know if automatic primary chain tensioners are beneficial (and to what) and if so, which one of the three now on the market would be 'best,' a relative term of course. So you see, an individual bike owner would not necessarily have experience with all three tensioners but only one (at most), the one in his or her bike. Even a thread on this question will not (or may not) lead to consensus.

Pretty impossible, and then also, there'd be no need for all the contributions made by the membership...
Gotta remember this, the sum total of all the Hands-on First-hand experience info provided here, almost any "expert" would be hard pressed to match... Plus, even the experts don't always agree...
Heck, get Donny Petersens tech book if you wanna by-pass the membership or, there's many other good tech oriented mags...
BUT, fxst-rider,, the best person to answer your questions is YOU,,, you gotta experiment if you wanna know, you gotta put Hands-on and learn like most others here... Look for advice yes, but what works best for me may not for you...
Hmmm, say the word Expert, an ex is a has-been, and a xpert is a drip under pressure... Yeah Baby...

Default Thought so

My purpose was not to cause an argument but simply to suggest an idea. And I agree with you that, collectively, the greatest experience is among the members here. However, I am not the one to experiment as I would have to buy three tensioners (in my example) and try them. Maybe a way to answer this particular question is with a poll. Let me try that and let's see what happens. Poll to be in the Trans/Primary/Clutch section.

FYI - on a personal note, I respect your opinions expressed here.

Nah. No one person knows everything and there's often more that one correct answer.

This won't be the first really bad idea I've had. Note that I pose the suggestion with a question mark. If I'm full of it, then I'm sure I learn so from here quickly. Good idea I didn't ask about oil!

No no No fxst, I didn't think for a moment that you were starting anything anywhere near an argument,, it's just simply the way I express myself...
Ya gotta remember, I talk on this forum as though we were in the bar, although, I do kinda tone it down here...
You got more ideas, hell, feel free...

An expert may be able to throw on a part with little to no effort. Thats because they have done it a number of times.

Unless the expert puts on the part and "Uses" it for a long period of time they cannot tell you what is best. There are way too many aftermarket parts out there and all Companies that sell the parts vouch that theirs is the best.

This forum is a diverse group of Bikers, Wrenches and Ocassional riders. The gathered information in this group is more valuable to me then what an Expert can dish out. The "Weather Man" is an expert. Look how many times they are wrong.

Course if you want someone to sit on a Thread or two and be responsible for all questions ya better dish out the cash to them.

There is lots of information to be shared by all folks. Experts do not exist! There is always room to learn even if you think you know it all. I sure as hell dont!
