I have an 07 and the left (black) one just split in two at the first top bend when the mount hole is. I am not happy.

It's a common problem with batwing fairings. First symptoms are buzzing or rattling and flexing in the fairing. As others have posted with thier fixes, there is a guy that sells a repair kit on ebay, sounds like one discribed in a post above. If you go to ebay and enter "harley outer fairing" in the seach box it will pull his brackets up with the fairings. There are very good pictures in his add that show his fix. Wouldn't be hard to duplicate yourself.

That's an easy one, happened to me there too. I just got a little angle bracket ("L" shaped) and screwed it inot the existing threaded bung (hole sorry couldn't resist), then marked where it hit the black bracket & drilled holes in both the "L" bracket and the main black fairing bracket. Then I put a bolt in it. It's been good for 15,000 mile.

btw it's also a 2007 FLHX.

Fe_Cavallo / KJBS; How many miles did you each have on your '07's when the brackets broke? I think I will go ahead and put together the repair kit now so I'll be ready. Maybe I'll even beef it up with brackets before it breaks!

Get a piece of 1" angle iron about 1" long, put it where the break is and line up with the remaining fairing bracket and where the bracket bolts to the fairing itself and drill a couple of holes in the angle iron, then drill a hole in the remaining bracket and take some bolts with lock nuts and replace, no more fairing bracket problems, cost about maybe $5.00 if that much.
