Default Klockwerks Windshield on Road Glide

Anyone here have a Road Glide w/ a Klockwerks windshield installed? I am considering one for my '08. Most of my riding is @ 65-75 mph. Thanks in advance.

I installed the 12 inch Flare on my Roadglide. I loved the way it looks and the bike is more stable at highway speeds. The problem I ran into was my height. I am 6' 3" and my face was not down below the air flow over the top of the bike. I also have a Road Sofa seat. The seat has me sitting up higher than the stock height. So between that and my height my face was right in the airflow over the windshield. Not problem if I am wearing a helmet. However, I do not always like to wear a helmet. Without a helmet the airflow went by my ears in such a way that any speed over 40-45 mph was painful. I wish I could have left the Flare on. I ended up going back to my other windshield (stock +3"). I guess will eBay or craigslist the flare.

Try the Cee Bailey. They are available in taller sizes.

I wrote my review of the Flair on my FLTRI (05) on another page, so here it is again. I'm 5'10" with a stock seat and weigh 165. The wind and the wind noise really got to me with the wind hitting me right at eye level and the wind noise so lout that I had to turn the sound up to max. I ride every day (56,000+mi) and I really appreciate the ride quality of the Glide, I thought that a windshield designed in a windtunnel would enhance the ride. I guess it was just designed to keep the bike going stright. KlockWorks got that part right.

I installed a stock heigth Flare on my 07. I'm short, 67" and I was still being buffeted about the head. Surprisingly, the Flare was worse! I bought a Kuryakyn 'Air Master' through the local Harley shop that was 2" taller and I am very satisfied with it. Mine is the only bad review I've seen on the Flare, but it all comes down to personal preferences. The Air Master works for me.

I installed the highest Flare and the highest V-Stream. I am not real happy with any including the stock Harley shield. I too am 5" 7" and am trying to get something that does not try to take my helmet off of blow in my ears so bad. I had a Heritage and a Ultra previously and did not have as much wind as now.

I test rode the road glide and found it to be the best handling motorcycle of all the "touring bikes". I did find that the road glide also had ALOT of wind noise. Not only from the top of the windshield, but also from around the sides of the bottom of the fairing. How do you compensate for the bottom of the fairing????? Would the small deflectors help????
I think I would buy that bike if I could solve that issue!!!

Can't speak specifically regarding the Road Glide. I did install the lower deflectors on my 03 EG Standard and my 09 Ultra came with the adjustable versions. The deflectors make a big difference in the amount of turbulance behind the type of fairing on the aforementioned scoots. I ran my 03 for a couple of years without them and after installing them I wondered why I hadn't done it sooner. Also there was another thread posting on the Klock Werks windshield here in the forums. There didn't seem to be a lot of positive comments regarding the wind deflection issue. I recall those postings mostly concerning the fork mounted fairing bikes (FLHT's including Classics and Ultras). Seems a rather substantial expense to buy the Klock shield and then it doesn't keep the airflow off your face and head. ( Big ouch in the checkbook!)

I talked to the Klock people at the V-Twin Expo about their windshield and they said it wasn't designed to push the wind over the riders head but to keep the bike stable at high speeds. It does look good though.

Check out Windvest.com I just put a 14 inch recurve on my VROD bagger with the road glide fairing. It pushed the air up over my wifes head who sits 2 inches higher than i do.

I have tried 5 different windshields trying to get one that i can see over and not thru and push the wind over my wifes head so she doesn't get the dread helmet buffeting. This is the one windshield that does all of that. I am 5.7 and the 14 inch is still about 2 inches below my eye sight. I get very little rain sting and virtually no wind in the face except what comes up from under the fairing and that is minimal.

Maybe I need to try shorter rather than longer. I am tired of paying for test shields though. I have already bought two (besides the stock one) that I am not happy with. It could be the air is coming from the fairing but I am not sure. As I said previously, I had an Ultra and a Heritage and neither on bothered me this much. I sat closer to the windshield on both of them. That is the main difference that I can see. Also, my wife (passenger) gets alot more air than previously. I sure like this model, but the air is worse than no shield/fairing.
