Default Dyno Needed?

I'm upgrading the exhaust system on my 08 Street Glide. I don't know if I'm going with slip ons or full pipes. V&H, Samson and Rinehart's are in the running. Doing the super tuner, SE air cleaner and what ever pipes I decide to go with.

Do I need to do the dyno as well? Two HD dealers said no and one said I do.

What do you guys recommend.

Hi 99

Here's something to consider--- if they throw in a dyno run to confirm a good A/F mixture, what the heck, do it but if not a very good way for you to tell if you're close to correct A/F is to run a High-spd and a Low-spd plug check,, and also the seat of your pants will say alot too..
If your plug color indicates very lean you might want to get re-tuned again..

Something else,,, except for the Rineharts which may be stepped--- if the OD and length of all your possible header choices are the same as your existing headers, heck,, there is no reason to change them which means simply getting slip-ons will be all you need to do..

Headers are headers, except for stepped headers and those stupid Large OD and very long or very short headers..
The real diff is in the flow efficiency or noise (whatever is more important to you) of the muffs you slip-on..

frisco,

Thx for your feedback. Btw, the dyno is extra $$.

You and I both know HD dealers don't just throw in things w/o extra loot.

I always have my bikes Dyno'd after I set them up with exhaust, intake, and a race tuner. You will almost always notice a significant difference in performance, and you will know that your air/fuel ratio is tuned properly from idle all the way through redline.

Make sure that the Dyno they are using is a modern one that will tune over the entire RPM range. Your Dyno card should show you horsepower, torque, and air/fuel ratios over the entire RPM range. If they can't do this, find another Dyno.
