Just a thought about the locking:

Is anyone who doesn't know harleys gonna know/see that it is detachable?

Is anyone that knows harleys gonna steal it?

Good question. You cant tell its detachable unless you know what to look for. Personally I think once on the bike the plate setup and intercom wiring is cleaner this way. I generally think that "bikers don't steal from bikers". That is why you can leave your gear on the bike at a dealership or rally.

but I'm a security nazi so I lock everything...

You did a fantastic job of the installation, and photos. I have wanted to do this to my '94 since the street glides came out. That's a real clean look. Plus, it would be fun just to run around like that. I just need to find out what and if a kit exists for my old girl.
Good job, nice bikes and a great shop to boot...stop by mine anytime and bring your OCD...and a couple meals! 94

Thanks. Glad you liked it all.

I try not to wrench too much on the rd. Cause I never bring everything or that person doesn't have things/tools/etc that I need for the job.

I have found this out via expierence...
