Default Fuel injection

Is it possible to make an injected bike sound more like a carburated bike with a lower idle.

Would a different set of cams and a programmer help?

You are probably hearing a larger cam. most of the FI bikes have what I call EPA cams in them. Put a bigger cam and a better set of pipes and it will sound more what you are looking for.

The better cam will help somewhat to get the characteristic Harley lope, the big payoff is the engine will run better and cooler, it is not readily attainable or advisable to achieve that extremely slow idle that you're wishing for...the engine doesn't oil properly at that speed, I know it sounds cool but it never was a very good idea, you pay the price with bearing failure sooner or later.

I don't want to sound like I don't like my 09, I wouldn't trade it for nothing.
It has the look I was wanting and a timeless style. I think I might look into a power commander or something like it, I don't like the idea of an engine running lean. How bad will it kill the milage by adding a tuner?

I guess I should have been clearer on the idle thing, I'm not looking for an almost dying slow idle. I would be happy with 200 rpm lower, nothing radical.

Besides the oiling thing I read somewhere that the higher idle speed gives enough alternator output to power the fuel pump. I am sure it has something to do with emissions as well. I don't say it cannot be done but I don't think a tuner will lower your idle speed but I could be wrong.

Don't take my word for it and if you are able to pull it off, please post and let us know how and how well it works.

I see Blacksheep1, the idle speed function is buried in the program in the ECM somewhere, there may be some EFI/computer guru's on here that could tell you how to change it but I have no idea.
Regarding gas mileage drop with the Power Commander: I lost about 5 miles per gallon but that involved after market cams, A/C, and slip-on's as well...however the engine runs noticeably cooler- partly aided by the cams and free flowing exhaust. A dyno tune using the tuning link software and done by a competent tuner (there are many pretenders out there) would probably recover most of the gas mileage. (the canned maps are close but not exact)

I'll keep you guys posted, I'll just have to dig in and figure it out.
I don't have any complaints with the power but I do want this bike to last a long time. Lower engine/oil temps is a great place to start in my book.
