Hi Light

As I recall,, 1984 was the first year of the EVO motor in 1340cc's (80") but there were still Shovelhead Sickles being sold too..
Are you looking for specific info on Evo, Shovel or just ALL 1984's..?

I sugg you Bing or Google and you can find out most of what you need to know..

Also,,, in most Parts Catalogs there is info/spec's, kinda like a time-line..

Just curious----Are you looking at a particular sickle for poss purchase..??

Hi Light

That'll be a cool project, good for you..

Curious----
Is it an OEM HD registered 1984 frame or after-market.?

Hello Lightning,
I ride a 1984 FLHTC Electra glide. Evo engine and chain rear drive. For 1984 they were made in 4 types Evo or Shovel and chain or belt. In 1986 there were major changes and it is hard to get parts for the 84-86.
I replaced the Evo with a 96 S&S engine and the clutch with a Barnet (i think). Rest is original. Getting original bags is hard. Right side has a dent for the battery. Old attachments for the lids, front a pin and hole, rear side the lock, the lids come of all te way.
Is a great ride. Did a 2000 mls tour to Scotland with the wive on the back.
What kind of specs do you need?

Have fun building,
Rgds, Ruuru

Hey Light

I noticed you're looking for an Evo motor..

As stated,, 1984 saw both Shovels & Evos being sold..

Do you know if your 1984 HD frame is an Evo frame.?
It could be a Shovel frame..

I have slipped a 1986 stock Evo motor into 2 diff Shovel frames, one after-market and 1 OEM HD and Neither fit..
That pesky back-bone and center/seat-post..

Now perhaps, being that 1984 was a 2 model year they mighta put ALL motors into Evo frames, I don't know, which would be great news for you but if yours is a Shovel frame, you might be restricted to a Shovel motor..

Have a ball

EDIT---- Light,, I replied to your public message on my page or whatever it's called right above your message,,,, I have NO idea if you get notified about that or not, I still don't understand this web-site message stuff very good..

Yeah

Custom Chrome catalog used to offer 5-spd tranny plates for use in 4-spd frames..
I believe they were made by Santee and another..

Other-wise, tranny plates are pretty simple to Fab..

There are also 5-spds in 4-spd boxes available too..

have a ball
