I kept quiet, on this one(no pun intended) , until now, cuz, well, I am just a redneck, and my "fix" involves Duct Tape.

Yup I have done this and it works. 2 layers of your favorite Duct Tape on the back of the pad, to eliminate the metal to metal like Highmiles just said.
Any color duct tape works.
