Default Forward controls FXDL

I'm concidering putting forward controls on my '02 FXDL. I'm looking to spend between $350-$500 and I want to put them on myself. Most of the after market controls have a built in master cylinder. Do I need this? or could I just get longer linkage to connect the existing master cylinder? Is there a good website that has how to info so I can see just how complicated this is? I hate to let a HD dealer do the work (I don't get kissed afterword)

Forward control kits for Dynas don't come with a master cylinder. Dyna's have the rear brake master cylinder at the rear of the bike. The forward control kit you buy should come with an extended brake rod. It's an easy installation.
