Just picked up my new Road King Classic and after about 30 miles I noticed that when I slowed down there was an intermittent noise coming from the front wheel. As I applied the front brake it stopped when released to free roll it started again. Only when the bike was going slow, under 20 MPH. I called the dealer they picked up the bike and they say it is mechanically sound however HD recognizes the problem and has a "special spray" to help eliminate the noise. Just checking if anyone else has this problem or has an explanation like the one I received.

Happy Holidays,
The Jester

What? I'm curious what that "special spray" is - WD-40 or silicon or ???

If you find out please let us know. Thanks and good luck.

Just a partial answer here...my guess is that the "tech" was talking about a "special-spray" for the back side of brake pads (a kind of adhesive) not for pad/rotor surfaces.

Default Broake Noise

Hey everybody,

Thanks for the replies. First, the sound started after about 30 miles and it starts when the bike is decelerating. It is an itermittent "light rub" sound that goes away after the brakes are engaged. Yes, the spary went on the back of the pads they also "roughed" up the edges. I was told that on the new harley's the way the pads sit sometimes the edges of the pads rub until they wear into place. Sounds like something ridiculous but I'll let you know more when the ice melts on my street and I can get the bike out.
