have a 2005 dyna. Do I need to bleed the brakes when I change from mid to foward controls?

You only need to bleed brakes when you open the lines up AND might have to stop in the future.

So, yeah.

I know you need to bleed when you open the line but will I need to open line or just remove old brake rod and replace with brake rod?

You don't have to bleed the brakes just to add forward controls, unless you move the master cylinder. When I put forward controls on, I just added the longer brake rod and all was well.

Want to install forward controls on a low rider, but when I went to the dealer, I was told that I'd have to replace the following items in order to the controls "properly" installed.
P/N 11147B O-ring
P/N 1205A Oil seal, inner primary
P/N 12066A Oil Seal
P/N 25416-99C Gasket, clutch cover
P/N 31430-94 Thrust Washer
P/N 33126-94 Lockplate
P/N 33318-85 Locking Tab
P/N 49080-03 Forward Control Kit
P/N 60539-94B Gasket, Primary Cover
P/N 60567-90C Gasket, Inspection Cover
P/N 63859-95B Gasket, Inspection Cover
P/N 99851-05 Lubricant Quart

Total for all the parts $366.53

Not sure if these are HD Official P/N or dealer P/N, although, I would imagine them to be HD's.

It seems as though that in order to get forward controls on a low rider this is the required list to do the job properly, oh and don't forget an official service manual, so that you can have the correct torque settings when removing the primary cover.

I look forward to your comments or ideas. I wonder if Kuryakin's are the same??

Default Dyna Forward Control Install

Don't know if you installed forward controls yet. I went and bought the Harley conversion kit and the only thing extra that I needed was some loctite. The old shifter rod gets fastened to a bolt on the case and you can reuse the highway footpegs with the kit. It took me about 4 hours and cost me about 300 bucks on my '03 Superglide Sport. Was worth every penny, makes the ride a lot more comfortable.

Unless your 05 Low Rider is way different from my 04 Low rider, you won't need any of those parts to install the Harley forward controls. I followed the included instructions and wasn't instructed to do anything that would require all those extra parts/fluids.

Took me about 1.5 hours working in my garage to swap out the controls. I think I also removed the rear passenger pegs and bar at the same time (I run a Corbin classic solo saddle & don't every carry rear passengers).
