Depending on the bolt-on rigid kit and the disc brake set-up, you may have to weld on a tab for the caliper bracket and/or anchor arm...
Other than that lil bit of work, you'll like the disc alot cuz of waaay less maintanence and better stopping...
It just bolts on huh, what kit is it..??

Just a suggestion...I would get some 1" x 1" aluminum bar stock and drill it to fit the shock mount studs at the height you want the bike to ride. Then take it out and ride it to see if that is what you want. I ran a bike like this for three years (76 XLCH) and it gives you the option of bolting shocks back on as well as maintaining resale value by not altering the frame. As for the disc brake you can get a swingarm from a later model Ironhead (I believe around 78 to 80) that has rear disc and it will bolt right up (of course you will need the wheel that goes with it). The final decision is yours of course but if the bike is matching numbers I would hesitate to alter the frame. You can find pictures of my 1976 XLCH in the photo album area. It is a red bobber.
