I have an 07' street bob and my wife has an 02' 1200 custom sportster. From my perspective, that sporty will get less and less use over time, even if you make a bar hopper out of it. Keep it stock and sell it to someone who will ride the daylights out of it, because you won't. Just my 2 cents.

I know exactly what you are talking about. I have a 08 Cross Bones and a 95 Sportster and I gave my old sportster to my wife so she might take up the call to the hobby. But I find that while I ride the CB more and more the sportie just sits and sits. It is rather sad to see it sitting in the garage and I swear it is giving me guilty feelings for riding the more comfy big bike over riding it. lol. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.

I said that if my wife doesn't start using it I would turn it into a bobber or something but I actually would probably sell it to someone who will ride it. That way I know it will be appreciated and not just become a future "barn find" for someone who has to rebuild it to get it running.

I agree... if you tear into that scoot and make it something of a bar hopper, then when it comes time to finally sell it, the buying market will be much smaller.

You are right on there, my bmc chopper gives me the evil eye when I hop on the Ultra and go for a comfy ride.......
