| | Re: Immediate Future of Harley Chopper Motorcycle When I bought my 73 Shovel in '87 it had a mural of Mickey Mouse wearing the sorcerers hat from sorcerers apprentice, first owner had it done in '75. It was getting a little tattered looking, and I don't like Disney's politics anymore.
I found a new old stock tank for a '77 I put on it. Red Harley script and AMF logo, looks good. I stored the old one safely away, it's not sexy and provocative like yours.

| | Re: Immediate Future of Harley Chopper Motorcycle Around here, the trend is "cheaper is better". I'm seeing more bobbers, than choppers, and the trend is to just strip parts off, and do homegrown modifications. A lot of what is on the road is metric. Young guys without a lot of money are turning to Yamaha 650's, and it is refreshing to see homebuilts on the street again.
Sportsters also seem popular, and my friend and I just finished this one.

Welcome to the group, you are going to fit right in. | The frame is actually orange, but the light was poor. Saving up for spoke wheels with either cream, or orange rims.

| | Re: Immediate Future of Harley Chopper Motorcycle Years ago, I had more radical bikes. Now days, I like bobber style bikes. I ride a heritage softail classic now. The guys that like extended front end/ radical rake, small seat bikes, etc... I think those are cool, just not for me. My big azz would not do well on a bike with a small seat...LOL The good thing about building bikes is that you can do what you like. Different strokes for different folks.

| | Re: Immediate Future of Harley Chopper Motorcycle How many of you have ever heard of Dick Allen? Don't bother to google it you won't find anything. Go to garage magazine and click on heroes. Now there's a bikers biker. One of the true chopper builders!

| | Re: Immediate Future of Harley Chopper Motorcycle Future of Choppers? All in the creativity of the builder & his/her environmental influences. It took me a while to kick-start my project 48 panchop, like 5 decades....it's all a generational thing, build what you knew or were comfortable with! If you live long enough, you'll see the circle coming round full-circle again, what was once cool, is yesterdays news...only to re-surface as "retro"? (don't care what they call it, works for me!) Like an old slipper, it conforms to ones mitten or style of "fit"....pretty deep stuff, eh? Working on a few brewski's here....starting to drool over the keyboard, like far out man!!! During the course of my ongoing build, Indian Larry passed away....so I thought to pay homage to him, with a question mark....on the other side, Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's mouse resides.....guess we all had heroes, as we grew up....David Mann, was foremost, w/me. His pictorials were the best tribute to chops & biker lifestyle. My 2cents....RIDE FREE!! | | | |
