Anyone know the schedule for the land speed races at Maxton?

As much as I'd love to check out Bonneville, living on the East Coast, Maxton is a lot more practical for me.

Who knows, we might try to put together some sort of team, bike or program to run there and follow it in American Iron Magazine.

Hey Buzz,

Too cool. Let me know if you need help. I am sure Harley Cruiser and others would be on board.

Sounds like the deal. Buzz and Dale should do this and share it with us in the magazine. What a hoot!

We are working out the details. I spoke with Dale about it today and it looks good.

Anyone else care to join us for this event with or without your own race bike?

Yea count me in as a definite maybe. Anyone want to ride up from Florida/Ga.?
If you have never been to Maxton for the land speed races you are really missing a cool time.
The bike in last months magazine was there, the two hundred mile per hour Harley?

As were a lot of cool bikes.
Lots of cool cars, bikes, and lots of nice people who love both.
I am friends of two different race teams, and a real good friend, Todd Dross, is one of the pre race inspectors.
Good people. I would love to meet everyone there.
First annual American Iron speed run.
For anyone interested here is the write up that I did about Maxton.
Part 2 Ride report, N Fl to Maxton LSR, "The Race"
And here is the ride up.
Ride Report, N FL to Maxton NC Land Speed Races
I did a rewrite of both and the ride home and sent it to Chris, who sent it to Sam, for submission for publication, but got side tracked afterwards and never did the editing that was ask for to finish it.
Sure hate when work interferes with play;-)

As of right now we are shooting for the Oct dates. Our goal is to sort out my 1931 Harley V flathead the week before with Dale at Wheels Through Time and race it at Maxton that weekend.

Dale is talking about racing one of his machines too.

Just got the rule book today so I guess he and I will be spending some time reading it to make sure we do everything according to the rules.

Everyone is invited to join us with new or old bikes - the more the better!

Who knows, you might end up in American Iron Magazine.
