Re: VIDEO Big Dog Pit Bull Motorcycle Cruiser Not everyone is a "builder" and some just prefer to ride a bike they like. My nephew recently bought a Big Dog Something Or The Other for half the price of a new one. For something around $16k ( I think) he got a nice chopper with a beautiful paint job, gobs of chrome, custom wheels, and a 117" S&S engine ( to mention only a few things). I think he'd have to pay that much for a Dyna C with an anemic over smogged engine and a basic paint job.
I really don't see much difference here from the approach Harley has taken with their WideGlides, Softails, Deuces, and Springers. They're all factory attempts at pre building a chopper for the aspiring bikers with deep pockets. Just sign on the dotted line and you too can drive off with a Har-r-rley that's not so different from something Sonny Barger might have built twenty years ago. On the surface anyway.
Personally I feel there's nothing quite like a bike someone has built themselves. There's some soul there that you can see and feel. That is the true old school way. Still, guys that put down the Big Dogs and such are just narrow minded people. I mean, after all, this biker thing is about the riding and having fun isn't it?
