Re: Do It Yourself I have to agree, buy the shop manual. I've had one for each and every one of the thirteen Harley's I've ever owned and they're worth their weight in gold [along with a subscription to American Iron]. The last bike I had, before the '06 FLHTPI I'm riding now, I had for 18 years. By then the old manual had pages falling out and some were pretty ratty looking from greasy fingerprints, but when I sold the bike to a friends son, I gave him the manual with it. I always kept the instructions and paperwork for everything I did to the bike, right there with it [Crane ignition, Taper-lite pushods, etc.] so I would have it there for reference, just in case.
I bought one for the '06 the day I picked it up. I must say, that Harley is doing a far better job at writing their manuals so the "common man" can read and understand it than they used to. |
