Thumbs up Cell Phone into HD AUX Input

So I got a new BlackBerry a few weeks ago. I love the phone and love the fact that it has an mp3 player, gps, and Pandora Internet radio. I want to plumb that into the HD head unit. However, using these applications consume the battery fast.

So I need to charge the bike here...

Second problem, all the standard car chargers have the spiral cords that would pull on the BB and the cigerette lighter. The sprint store, radio shack, and the cell phone guys at Best Buy all told me "Good Luck" (which is code for you don't stand a chance).

After speaking to some BB techs and using logic. I found that I could charge the phone off the wife's garmin, and with the mini USB data cord on the neighbors iPhone charger. So I went back to Best Buy and looked for a car charger for USD.

Found this Rocketfish adapter for $15

Its SUPER small!!!

Fits nice and snug

Run the USB data cord so I can charge the phone while riding.

Then plug in the stereo to stereo headphone inline cord. To the phone and to the AUX port on the front of the HD head unit.

I placed the unit into the tank bag that I generally take with me on long road trips. It gives me a convient place for candy, wallet, cell phone, and other things that are cumbersome when on long trips. The internet radio will be a god sent on my up coming solo trip.

Great idea - thanks ... I however try to get away from all that when I ride. I have had this problem with my Zumo 660 - which I finally figured out how to hard wire it.......then I have my Blackberry cell phone what sucks the life out of the freaking battery........soooooo I I need to make a call - I do it at the rest stops for gas...... Satellite radio is the way to go but I just hook up my IPOD and I am ready.............don't you just love all the gadgets - getting to many - how do we keep up.....

That's a nice setup you worked out there, GasMan. I use the AUX input for my Sony Mp3 Discman occasionally. Sometimes my wife plugs in her Ipod. I haven't had much complaint abouit battery life yet with those, but I'm not much for tunes on the bike....I guess it overloads my pea brain enough just dodging cage drivers.

Yeah I want a zumo with xm, traffic, and mp3. However, that being said, the Pandora internet radio worked GREAT. With no cost like XM. I may just run that in my car too. Plus when you log in on your pc to pandora.com you can see your account for your phone. Both online and phone accounts are connected and it works together. Its really a great thing. The technology is just amazing when it works.

Well the cool thing about this setup is that with this my battery doesn't die. Its fully charged when I arrive where ever. When i was in PA 2 weeks ago and had the hottie on the back of the bike she brought her Ipod and usb cord. So I simple plugged it into my modified power pt and in to the radio. We were listening and charging. Works great! The USB power pt is just so universal.

Sounds like you had a great deal going there, especially with the hottie on the back. I'd best pick up one of those, never know when my own hottie will need it. (:
